Greg Newby's ASIS Midyear 1999 Presentations
I was involved with three separate sessions at the ASIS 1999 Midyear
meeting in Pasadena, California. From this page, you can link to
the Microsoft Powerpoint presentations I used for each session.
Note that I have a paper under preparation for submission to
JASIS related to the Yavi evaluation (the 3rd paper).
- "Beyond Glitz and Into Content",
part of a panel discussing Web page evaluation. This presentation
addressed ways of evaluating Web pages, from the point of view of
a Web designer and focusing on the content of the pages.
- "Secondary Evidence for User
Satisfaction With Community Information Systems", part of a panel
addressing evaluation of community networks. This presentation
addressed the use of standard HTTP log files to get more detailed
information on how user needs might be met during navigation of
a community network's Web site.
- "Evaluation of a Visualization
System for Information Retrieval at the Front and the Back End", a
"contributed papers" session for which there were no papers, only
abstracts. The paper, as mentioned above, is under creation for
submission to JASIS during summer 1999. This presentation details a
small-scale evaluation of a visual navigation system for browsing
retrieval results in multidimensional space, Yavi. Email me if you would
like to download the Yavi executable and a few test spaces.
